The Day 340. December 29, 2015.  Thurmont, MD; Elkridge, MD

Sadie had to go to ER last night.  Nan and Pop are visiting and brought their dog.  He and Sadie were playing and he scratched her face and she had to get 3 stitches.  He got her good but she did great.  After the initial scare she settled down and got the stitches without a fuss. Gregory said she kept playing with her face because it felt fuzzy.   Haha.

Ok.   Imagine Santa Claus as skinny with stringy hair.   Ok.  Now imagine him naked.    This is the guy in the truck beside us tonight.

4 am.   Heading to Fredericksburg, Virginia.    Pouring the rain and cold.   I just want to snuggle back under the blankets but no.  Here we go.

We stayed at a truck stop last night run by Indians (not Native).   Usually their bathrooms are gross but this was one clean.   Even saw a mop in the hallway at one point.   Definitely a big change.    The guy behind the counter still wasn’t friendly but hey I got a clean bathroom.   I’ll take rude.    What was funny too is the guy had a tshirt on that said “I’m not just a cup, I’m your friend”.  Friends like that who needs enemies right.   It always makes me wonder too.   Most of India is Buddist or Hindu, so why are the people so unfriendly?   Hmmmm.

Also, I think we need to start a paper towel movement.  (Yes, I am up at 4 am and having lots of caffeine).   I am so tired of those blow drying machines in public bathrooms.   Do they not know how many people do not wash their hands after they go to the bathroom (I’ve seen it way too many times) and then touch the door knob on the way out?   How many people sneeze or cough in their hand and then touch the door knob?   Where do they think E. Coli and the flu comes from?   Gross people!   I say down with the wind blowers that just chap our hands anyway and up with the paper towel holders.   Who’s with me?

We got a little heater for the truck.   This way we don’t have to have the truck running all night or get up in the middle of the night to start it when it’s cold.  I call it our Little Purple People Heater.

We have arrived at the shipper in Maryland.   Now we wait.  Greg has to take a 10 hour break and we will get back on the road tonight.

We have our load information for tomorrow.  If it doesn’t change.  I’m trying not to jinx it.  Stockton, California!

11 pm.  10 hours are up and we are headed to Ohio.   330 miles to go.  Looks like Greg is driving most of the night.

Goodnight y’all.

DG:  Going from here to outside of Columbus, then Chocton and on to the far west. Woohoo!  Baby gets her trip to California.
I have to mention again that we have been so blessed in avoiding all of the bad weather that has hit different parts of the country. May God continue to bless us so.

Well, have to try to get some sleep for this midnight drive.

Good night and God bless.

  1. Poor little Sadie, makes me want to cry. I’ve been praying for good weather for you all, there’s been so much destruction everywhere. Really sad. Love you guys.
