Day 12, February 8, 2015. Iowa and Ohio

5:30 am and this day has started off with a bang – literally. I banged the snot out of my right little toe getting out of bed this morning. I was trying to crawl around the wet spot where apparently Precious decided to pee in the bed. I guess she decided she was not going back out in the cold and snow in the middle of the night so she didn’t wake us up as usual. On one hand I understand, on the other I’m really aggravated. Now the first thing I have to do when we park tonight is wash sheets. Lovely! Thanks Precious!

We are on our way to New Jersey already this morning. It’s an 18 hour drive from here in Iowa. Over 1000 miles. Time to settle in and get comfortable. We need to get across the rest of Iowa, Indiana and hopefully most of ohio today. We are heading east so looks like the sun will be in my eyes once it comes up that is. It seems no matter what vehicle I am in the visor is always one inch higher than the sun or maybe I’m one inch shorter than the visor. Either way I need to put on my sunglasses.

We made it all the way to Youngstown, Ohio.   Not a lot of different stuff to see today.   Farms, farms and more farms.   The one big difference in the farms here in Ohio is the size.   In Ohio you can see your neighbor and your house may be close to the road.  In Iowa and Illinois the farms are really far apart and no neighbor in site.   The houses usually sit way back off the road and they seem so small you can barely see them except with my zoom lens and even then some of them aren’t very clear.   Ohio is definitely a lot more crowded and closer together.

It is starting to rain here and feels like its getting colder.   The forecast is for snow showers here in Ohio all the way to New Jersey.   Great, just the direction we are going.   We are only about 7 hours away from our destination so hopefully the roads will be cleared off early if it does snow.

We are all tucked in after watching a Downton Abbey, of course, and a Sherlock Holmes on Netflix.   Time to snuggle in and see what the morning brings.   Goodnight all!
