Day 559; August 10, 2016

Whew it’s muggy. Florida is hot but I do not think I have experienced humidity like here in Kentucky.  What should be a cool night for porch sitting is a sweat box. I could be in a sauna. I feel like I’m in a sauna.

Today was the kids first day of school and boy were they excited.  They face timed us after school and told us all about it. In addition to recess, lunch and some learning we learned our little girls have boyfriends already. In fact Maddi reported hugging and kissing. Don’t know if her daddy knows about this but he will when he reads the blog.

Got a new lawnmower.

Cut grass today. Annie was worried because of my blood pressure and well, I have been a bit idle lately, but I did it.

And did it dancing.

Of course now I’m wore out. But I do feel better with my lower blood pressure due to my new medication and some exercise.

Went for a drive scouting for good places to watch the meteor shower Friday morning. Think we found a couple out route 3 way but will do a little more research tomorrow.

Some wildlife we saw on our drive. There were hundreds of deer as well but if we took a picture every time we saw deer we would need a bigger website.

For now it’s time for bed. Good night you good people and God bless.

Day 559; August 9, 2016

Day one of life alterations. Had errands to run this morning.  Picked up new and refill meds at Wal Mart this morning and stopped by the new Rural King on the way home.  It reminds me of Tractor Supply just a little more country.

4:30 pm, going to get a lawn mower. I convinced Ruthie to cancel her lawn service and let me cut the grass. This will save her some money each month. That is until she gets my bill.  Just kidding.

8:00 pm, dinner is over.  Oops!  No pictures. So sorry.  Apparently we were too hungry to think of photos.  I’ll try to describe it for you.  There was steak, sweet potatoes, corn on de cob and wine.  Tasty.  And all for about the price of a bucket of KFC.  But much, much better.

Needless to say it’s dog day afternoons here.  Quite warm, right guys?

I think the tongue says it all.

Heat or no heat, another stick had to die.  The offense escapes me at the moment, but tradition demands that justice be served and it is my duty to serve.

Tomorrow we try cutting the grass. This should be fun. Wish I had more pictures. Maybe tomorrow.

One more pic, starting a new quilt.  This will be interesting.

Have a great day.  God bless.

Day 558; August 8, 2016

Whoa, almost forgot about you. Nothing really to report today. Had a doctor appointment this afternoon and guess what?  We both have high blood pressure. Go figure. Who knew that being over weight and inactive would lead to high blood pressure?  Oh, wait, just about everybody. Well, this inspires a change in lifestyle so from now on this will be a blog of our progress on the road to good health.

First there will be waking then healthy eating maybe some cardio in the afternoon and more healthy eating.

There will not be any before pictures as there are plenty of them already on the blog. There will most likely be pictures along the journey, and definitely one at the end.

So for you readers that tune in for the travel, well, if you’re still reading after a month off the road we assume you’re not hanging in for the travel at this point. I just hope we don’t bore you.

Come along. It’ll be fun.

God bless.

Day 557; August 7, 2016

Some local wildlife.

It’s a beautiful day here in eastern Kentucky and it was decided today that after driving extensively through 47 of the contiguous 48 states that Kentucky has to be the most beautiful.  Drive through Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Illinois, the plains and Midwest and you will see some beautiful landscapes, no doubt, but the diverse beauty, breathtaking vistas and just warm and inviting back roads of Kentucky are like nothing anywhere else in this country and I would wager, the world. Pick any country road and you will be treated to a natural view unsurpassed anywhere. Take a look.

Scenery you can just get lost in.

And tobacco. Something we haven’t seen growing since the government intervention of some years back. Still a beautiful plant.

And of course there is wildlife right in your front door.

And speaking of wildlife!  Whoa!

That’s a style that is sure to catch on around the globe.  They call it the Nug.

So after a long day of doing practically nothing of any importance it’s time to sacrifice another stick and wash it down with some 18 year old Laphroage. Spelling may not be accurate.

The stick had to die.

And that brings us to tonight’s dinner menu that consisted of chicken burritos accompanied by a generous helping of sliced peppers and sliced cucumber and onions in a bath of vinegar.  Delicious.

So off to meet a new doctor tomorrow.

God bless.

Day 556; August 6, 2016

Oops!  Forgot to blog last night. Have a good excuse though. We were celebrating Annie’s birthday.  Yep, another year older and another year wiser and more beautiful.

And what better way to celebrate than with friends. Mary invited us for pizza and cheese cake and Matt and Donna showed up to join in the festivities.  It was good seeing Matt after all these years.

Turn your sound up, you’ll want to hear this

Well, I want to make this short as it is already late so I will say have a blessed day and see you later.

Day 555; August 5, 2016

Ashland has a sushi bar. It’s in with a hibachi restaurant as you would never make a stand alone sushi bar successful here. But nonetheless we raw fish eaters now have a place to satisfy our palates.  And satisfy I did.

Next pic is from yesterday and this is me and my beautiful niece Abby lunching at Moe’s.  She is as sweet as she is beautiful.

And here is some more of her artwork. She is very talented in that area.

Tonight Annie and I went to dinner, previously mentioned above and a movie. We saw the new Star Trek movie and I recommend it to everyone even if you are not a Star Trek fan.

Home and some tv with grandma and it’s off to dreamland.

Last night Annie and I were chasing gangsters in 1930’s cars and before that it was monster trucks and battle ships. I’ve not been sleeping well.

Oh well, may God bless you and keep you until we meet again.

Day 554; August 4, 2016

No pizza today.  Apparently there was too much sugar in the dough and, well, yeast and sugar when allowed to sit long enough makes what?  Alcohol. So instead of pizza for lunch we needed a still, but that would be illegal so we went to Moe’s.

Spending another day with the nieces was fun. They’re always a joy.

Some more artwork. A very creative bunch.

So tomorrow we go shopping and I’ve got to get busy.

You all have a great day now. God bless.

Day 553; August 3, 2016

Butter it Up, a new eatery in Ashland. They have all natural stuff, no GMOs, free range chicken and grass fed cow’s milk and butter.

We stopped for some lunch and decided to split a salad.

It had chicken, blueberries, strawberries, raisins, spinich and several types of lettuce.  And was delicious.

That’s a cup of Bulletproof with a shot of espresso.  It has coffee and butter and a brain octane boost which is super concentrated coconut oil. So after this I will be thinking super good.

Lindsey turned 15 today. Hard to believe she is already a young lady. We had cake and ice cream, played clue and Phase 10 all with lots of laughs.

There were some serious moments in the card game.

But more funny moments.

And her gift from Annie and me. Hope she enjoys it.

Of course crafts are always a part of any get together.

So after hours of fun and games it’s time to hit the hay.

Good night y’all and God bless.

Day 552, August 2, 2016

Sorry post is late.   Busy day yesterday and fell asleep before we could post it.

Up early to make a birthday cake for Lindsey Boo.  I can’t believe she is turning 15.   Where does the time go?

Also put on buns to have with our barbecue sandwiches this evening.  Day 3 of the roast so I am going to shred it and add some barbecue sauce.   Yummy!

Sadie learned to do a walk over yesterday or whatever it’s called.  She has been trying but couldn’t get her legs over.  She finally did it with the ever faithful Maddi cheering her on.

We made pizza again for lunch.  Having bread dough on hand sure makes it easy.  Looks like pizza man Greg hasn’t lost his touch.

Finished the rolls and the barbecue.   Delicious dinner! Mom ate every bite.

Lindsey’s cake is finally finished.   Four layers of dark chocolate cake filled with vanilla buttercream covered in dark chocolate buttercream covered in chocolate ganache and finished with Hershey kisses, her favorite candy.

Well, signing off for last night.   Goodnigh y’all.

Day 551; August 1, 2016

7:30 am.  Haven’t been up this early since getting off the road one month ago.

8:30 am.  Earl Grey inspired morning. In the garage again. You all are probably going to get tired of hearing about the garage. It is a big project and motivation is limited. There is so much to do in and out of the garage I think I should maybe get a job just to get away from it all.

12:30 pm.  Headed for town. New diet started and need groceries. All that fancy cooking is about to get serious.

Fruits and vegetables, all you want, nuts too and lots of protein as in red meat, chicken and fish.

And no more of this stuff. Yuck!

Except on birthdays and special occasions. And no, Tuesday is not a special occasion.  I know what you’re thinking.  It’s serious this time because time is what we want.

Dinner. Not yet the paleo we are aspiring too but there are a few unapproved foodstuffs we need to dispose of, in an appropriate manner of course.

That would be an open roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes.  Oh, and fried corn.

So after dinner, Precious needed a nap and she can’t sleep alone so I had to dog sit.

She’s such a sweetie pie.

Annie got the border on Maddi’s quilt. It’s really looking good.

Gregory sent me this picture of a frog on his window. I said it was trying to get out of the heat. Gregory said it was just hanging around. He’s so funny.

Watched some tv, it was my turn to choose the channel so everyone was treated to the History channel and a documentary.  My gift to the house.

Well, it’s late and all the day’s excitement has worn me out so I will say good night and God bless.
