Day 520; July 1, 2016; Jackson, MS.

DG:  Vincini said go back to the beginning, so I went back to the beginning.

7:30am, couldn’t lay there any more. Wasn’t really hungry but figured breakfast is free and if I fill up now, well I shouldn’t be hungry for a while.

11:30am arrived at Greyhound station. A little early but check out was 11:00 and didn’t want to sit around hotel lobby any longer than necessary.

Cab ride was $25.00.  Should’ve caught the van back to KLLM yard, it’s half the distance to the bus station from motel. Oh well, hind sight right.

Fortunately, as do airports, they have a bar. Well, there is a counter in the gift shop with chairs and draft beer. A bar. And oh, what’s this?  BOILED PEANUTS!  Lunch is served. These may be my last until I can make my own.

Annie – Abby and I took dogs to the groomer.   Since we were in Greenup county already we decided to drive around a while.   Ended up at Imel’s greenhouse and Plum Grove Cemetery.    Brings back a lot of memories.

Imel’s had some pretty flowers.  Abby got two succulents.   They should be blooming soon.

Pretty flowers. I saw some too. Don’t know what they are but they’re pretty.

5:00 pm dinner time. Hope we stop at the Catfish Corner. I hear they have some good catfish. Hey look, we did stop at the Catfish Corner.  And they have some good catfish. Mmmmmmm….

7:00 pm bus pulls into Memphis. Now I have a four hour wait before going on to Nashville where I will have a two hour wait. Gotta sleep fast on this next leg.

While in Memphis I decided to get a haircut.

He’s saving up to get his own building but in the meantime this is working for him

Looking good.

Well, this about concludes this part of our journey. Catch you in the AM.

Good night and God bless.

Day 519; June 30, 2016; Jackson, MS; Ashland, KY

DG:  Well the day has finally arrived. Got to the yard around 10:00, turned in my keys and permit book, signed some papers and caught a ride to a local motel.  I am officially out of the trucking business.

Got a room at the Quality Inn as the bus I will be taking to Ashland does not leave Jackson until 2:55 tomorrow afternoon.  KLLM drivers get a discount at the local Quality Inn and since they didn’t ask for my ID badge back……….

This gave me an opportunity to eat lunch at my favorite spot in Jackson and that would be The Crawfish King.

I had the shrimp dinner plate. I think he said that was 2/3 pound of shrimp, boiled new potatoes, boudin sausage and corn on the cob.

Well, this is Mississippi in summer.

A little warm.

I probably should have led with this.  Final view of the approach to the Jackson Terminal and the new KLLM Academy.

7:30; Sitting in my motel room I am thinking of the guys at the yard and at Morrow and at Lancaster who are waiting on trips hoping they won’t have to sit all weekend and how that used to be me, but no more.

And all the drivers looking for parking for the night or driving on through the night. Not me.  I do feel peaceful about our decision.

Annie – busy day of quilting today.   I finished the first three rows of the quilt top.   I really like it.

Abby and I had to go to the library so we walked down to the new Rural King and looked around.  They had baby chicks, ducks and guineas.    Should we get some?   Hmmmm.

Well, off to bed.   Supposed to take moms dogs to groomer in the morning.

Greg gets on a bus tomorrow and will be home Saturday.  Can’t wait!!

Goodnight y’all.
