Day 550; July 31, 2016

A lost tooth.

And a hungry baby.

Those are the stories today on Hills Over The Road.

This morning Sadie reported the loss of yet another baby tooth. I think that is four, but not sure.

Alex was hungry and suffering the loss of a tooth Sadie did not let that stop her. She bravely held Alex so that he could finish his bottle. What a brave little girl.  So proud of you Sweetpea.

Annie was at it again today. Roast, potatoes, carrots and homemade bread.

After digesting a bit someone got a hankering for ice cream. Luckily Crisp’s Dairy Treats is just down the road. I was so full from dinner all I could handle was a scoop of orange sherbet.

It’s nice to see a local business since 1960 is still going strong.

Back at the house, ice cream downed, guess what?  Now we’re sleepy. Surprise, surprise.

That’s about it folks. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon so not much happening.  Tomorrow promises to be exciting.

God bless.

Day 549; July 30, 2016

Back to the garage.

Forgot to post this yesterday. We went to Moe’s and they have some salsa that had some heat.  You know how I can tell?

Today there are leftovers.

And taco salad for dinner? Are we Mexicans now?

I think my visa is up. Time to head back to the border.

All kidding aside it has been a good day. But now it’s over and time for bed. Good night and God bless.

Day 548; July 29, 2016

Here it is 4:00 in the morning and I just remembered I have not entered the blog.

Busy day today. Description and excuse.

Went grocery shopping and spent time cleaning today. Eggs, ham and biscuits for dinner.

I’m just making chit chat. And it ain’t easy. And I can’t see my phone. So will have to say good night and God bless.

Day 547; July 28, 2016; Walterboro, SC; Ashland, KY.

Made it home in one piece. Thank you Lord.

Had some grapefruit for our friend Mary and dropped those off along the way then home for dinner, unpacking and sleep.

Came up through Ashville and Route 23 through Virginia and Kentucky, a beautiful ride.

Here are some pictures of the trip, Walterboro and mountains in North Carolina.

Got our Bojangles fix. Asked for some extra spice for the Bo’rounds and this is what they gave us.

Good thing we didn’t have another order.  Hope this didn’t break them.

Here’s the concert I missed including last night.

Such a sweetie and so smart.  Takes after her papaw.

Hope you all had a blessed day. Excuse me, gotta catch up on The Wheel and Jeopardy.

God bless.

Day 546; July 27, 2016; Cape Coral, FL; Walterboro, SC

There was crying and wailing, hugs, kisses and consoling.  It was time to go. It was a great four days. Sorry it had to end so soon.

Sadie learned this in just a few minutes.  I think with a little practice she could be really good.

This is kind of sad and sweet at the same time. Maddi was crying because Mammie was leaving and Alex didn’t like that so he leaned forward in Melissa’s arms so he could give his crying sister a hug and kiss. And he didn’t do it just once but about four times. So sweet.

So with crying children behind us we head north for Kentucky.  It’s a long drive and we make no attempt at driving straight through.  That was the way of the previous generation.  So we stop in Walterboro, SC at a pet friendly Ramada Inn.  Ramada has slipped a little, no, a lot in hospitality.  There was no hand soap and when the front desk was called the desk clerk informed me they were out of soap. I inquired as to how we were to wash our hands. She had no answer but did offer to call housekeeping. I thought that was a good idea and thanked her accordingly.  Not sure where housekeeping hangs out at night but we got a call after a few minutes that there was a bar of soap at the front desk if I could come get it as she was alone on the desk and the phantom housekeepers had vanished after dropping off the one bar of soap. They must have had other night duties in other places.

Before the hotel, around Daytona, we stopped for BBQ.

Good stuff too.  And that’s one big grill, huh.

That’s all from the road. God bless.

Day 545, July 26, 2016

Another hot one here in southwest Florida but only seven pools to do today so I got off early.

Found where the money is here in Cape Coral.

Oh, and that’s not all.

And if you look in the distance you can see the Gulf of Mexico.

That’s what you call your Gulf access.

So, while Greg and I were out servicing pools yesterday the kids were having fun with watermelon.

Looks like fun and refreshing.

Here’s a pool for you.

And when we got home we discovered that the neighborhood had been invaded by these strange creatures.

Don’t know what they eat but I don’t think it was this. But something dropped it because it is definitely out of place in the side yard.

And I don’t know if there’s something in the air or what, but there is something going on.

And then there’s the sweet side.

Isn’t she precious?  Look at that face.

Sadie at gymnastics.

And that’s all for today. May be on the road back to Kentucky tomorrow.

Good night and God bless.

Day 544; July 25, 2016

Today was a work day and work we did.

8:30 am, no, we’re not planning on any stick ups. Good disguises though right?

Those are moisture wicking covers for head, neck and face. And I gotta tell you, they work. They are SPF50 too and do a good job keeping the sun off of you. And in Southwest Florida that’s a necessity.

First pool. Texting.

Small appartment complex with a tenant who claims his water bill went up $30 this month because Greg cleaned his filter last week. If he cleaned it last week he wouldn’t have gotten a bill for it yet. But he swears his claim is solid because he’s got pictures. And he tells all of this in a thick New York accent.  Or so I’m told. I am also informed that most transplanted New Yorkers hate it here is southwest Florida but you can’t get them to leave. I leave places I don’t like. It’s a big country folks. Find your happy place so the rest of us don’t have to listen to you complain. About everything.  In all my years it has come to my attention that a lot of people just don’t want to be happy. And that’s sad but I can’t let it bring me down.

So here we are getting chlorine.

That’s a lot is chlorine.  Florida has a lot of pools

So that was easy. First pool, easy. Now we’re on a roll.

I think this person was a wee bit ashamed that they support the Patriots. Notice the small logo and the dark place it is being displayed.

On with the day. Pools to clean and, well, more pools to clean.

Found the pool I want.

This thing was amazing.

Now that I’ve picked out my pool…..

Got a question. Anyone know what kind of plant this is?

No prize for correct answer just looking for information.

God bless.

Day 543; July 24, 2016

BIG DAY TODAY!!!!  Alex got in the pool, AND LOVES IT.  This was his first time. Several times in the past we had tried to get him in the water and as soon as his feet touched screaming ensued. I mean loud screaming. He did not like it.

We had a big time in the water. And no one got sunburnt.

There were a couple of “I ain’t moving”, “oh yes you are” moments, but it was all fun.

Dinner was burgers on the grill, baked beans and Mac and cheese.

We had cake but everyone was too full to eat any so we will have that tomorrow.

They have a strange way of washing babies down here, but it seems to work.

This one came out clean with no shrinkage.

Okay, the plan is to move the rest of our stuff to the new and smaller storage unit and head for Ashland. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Tuesday.

Hope you all have a blessed day.

Day 542; July 23, 2016

Sunshine and blue skies. That’s Florida baby.
Speaking of babies. Take a gander at these cuties.

Such loves.

Moving day here in southwest Florida.  And it’s hot. Woo!  But we’re staying hydrated and in the shade as much as possible and all is well.

Some are more enthused than others

We had a good time at Lowe’s.

Some shoppers gave us dirty looks. But we didn’t care.

No sense of humor.

Then there are those that think life is but a game.

And some people are just silly.

And for some the day just got more interesting.

Until they could take it no more.

And retreated into a book.

Or a piano.

And now it’s bedtime. Good night y’all.  And God bless.

Day 541; July 22, 2016; Brunswick, GA; Cape Coral, FL

5:40:  Here we go. Last leg of the journey.

Slept good. First time in a long while we’ve slept on a real bed.  Ahhhh!

Of course Precious needed a few more hours rest.

2:45 we arrive.

Don’t know if he was glad to see us or happy about getting a bottle.

Turkey wrap, that’s where it’s at.  Cheese on pie, don’t ask me why.

Anybody ever heard of cheddar cheese on apple pie?  Evidently it’s pretty good. Have to get some cheese tomorrow to try it out.

Well, it’s been another wonderful day.  We got kisses and hugs and more kisses and hugs and now everyone is tucked in and sound asleep. I must join them now. We’ll have more tomorrow. God bless all.
