Day 487, May 29, 2016;  Oklahoma City, OK; Lancaster, TX

8 am.  Up and ready to get on the road but during the pre-trip inspection Greg noticed another flat tire.  This one is behind the one that had the broken air line.   So, now we are headed to Petro truck stop because they have a tire care center to see what needs to be done.  It’s close so I guess we don’t have to worry about driving on it.    Lovely, just lovely!

DG:  Tire is flat but intact. Just came off the rim, don’t know how that happened.

See the gap between the tire and the rim?  That’s where the air leaks out.

9:40am, almost ready to go. Work is done. Now for the paperwork. Soon we will be back on the road.

Had to take a picture of this. The cars are for the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Worlds largest resort and casino.

3:30 pm.  Made it to the Lancaster yard to check on trip.   Our load isn’t due in Waco until 6/1 but we don’t want to wait that long and sit so earlier Greg asked dispatch if we could deliver early.  Two people emailed back and said yeah go on down and deliver.   One said no.   Not sure what to do so we stopped in Lancaster to check with office before going on.  Good thing we did.  Load can’t deliver until 6/1.  So we are going to park trailer and hopefully get another load on out and someone else will take this to Lancaster Wednesday.

6 pm. Told by dispatch we could go ahead and take our load on to Waco and pick up another load to go to Kennesaw Georgia. Off we go.

7:30.  Arrived at receiver only to be told we couldnt deliver as no one was there until TUESDAY!!   So, off we go back to the yard in Lancaster.  What a crazy day!

Pictures of Texas.

First the cloud spirit was smiling.  Then he got upset.   Then he got angry.

And then things got nasty.  We made it back to the yard just in time.

This was Gregory’s afternoon.   Maddi is on the raft.  Sadie is the fish in the water.

9:30 pm. Showered and waiting on laundry. Good thing about coming to the yard is its free! Going to eat a bite and go to bed. Heading back to Waco in the morning it looks like.

Goodnight y’all.

DG:  Well, this is what you get when you don’t take the time to read.  KLLM delivers to and ships for Mars candy out of the Romark warehouse in Waco, TX and they are open 24/7.  My load was going to the Army and Air Force Exchange Service which also has a warehouse in Waco, but they are M-F and never on holidays, especially Memorial Day. Mars is a drop and hook, AAFES is live load and unload. So apparently no one in planning or dispatch read the name and address of the receiver assuming it was the place we go to most often, Mars. I should have questioned it when the local dispatch told me to go get that load in Waco and take the trailer whose number he had written on a post-it note. When I saw the number it was the trailer I had just brought in and dropped. He said that was okay, take it, drop it and pick up the loaded trailer going to Kennesaw.  This is after he told me, half an hour earlier, that that receiver was live load only. I guess I figured he had talked to someone and things had changed. He hadn’t and they hadn’t. So when I get to the AAFES warehouse the guard comes out to meet me and tells me there is no one in the warehouse today and they won’t be back until Tuesday morning. Soooooo, back to Lancaster.  And the rest they say is history. However, we are keeping the trip going to Kennesaw cause now we have an empty trailer. No, the one for AAFES is still here on the lot and will be taken by a local driver in a couple of days. At least we won’t be sitting for two or three days. Praise the Lord.

Be blessed and we will write more and picture post more tomorrow. See ya in the funny papers.

God bless.
