Day 398, March 1, 2016.  Hesperia, CA; El Centro, CA

3:30 am pacific time.   Phone rings.  It’s Maddi wanting to FaceTime.   It’s 6:30 where they are so they are all getting up for school.  Sadie has already got on the bus.   She told me Gregory and Kaiden have strep throat.  Apparently Sadie brought it home.   She is on antibiotics but now they have it.    Maddi talked to us for almost an hour so we could watch her color Princess Anna.   What a sweetheart!

4:30. Am.  Back to sleep.

6:30.   Tired of laying.  Time to get up and move around.   Head in for some caffeine.  Greg is still asleep.

7 am.  FaceTime from Maddi again.   She said “I told you I would call you right back”.   God I love that little girl.

They had to take Gregory to the doctor.   He has ear infections and strep.    Kaiden is going later to the doctor and now Maddi says her throat is getting sore.   Oh no!  Hope Melissa and Alex don’t get it!!

Greg is now up because Maddi wanted her papaw.   She wants us to pick the next color for her to color with.   We  have to alternate between us.

Now we are dressing Cinderella in Mulans clothes because she is naked and Mulan can’t wear the dress because Sadie pulled her head off.  Hahahaha   Poor Mulan.

She keeps asking if I can see her butt.   Hahaha

Now we have moved on to Minnie Mouse ears and trying on lip gloss.

12:30 pm.  Finally got a trip.   Heading to Corona, California and then to El Centro, California for a load to Dallas, Texas.

1:30.  Maddi FaceTimed me again.  We were on for about 2 hours.  I feel so bad for her.  She doesn’t feel well.  Just wanted me to watch her color.   At one point I read to her a while and sang a couple of songs while she laid on the bed.

2 pm.   Pacific time.  Picked up the first part of the load in Corona, CA.  Picked up 7,000 pounds of balsamic vinaigrette and a garlic salad dressing.    Now off to El Centro for the second half.

4 pm.  Maddi FaceTimed me again. Basically just wants to talk and color.   Sadie is home too now so got to talk to her a bit as well.
Maddi was on the phone until 7:30 eastern time.   If we got disconnected she called me back crying.   I hate it when they are sick.    She even sat the iPad on the table while she ate her soup for dinner.    It’s off to bed for them though.  Sadie gets up at 6 to catch the bus at 6:30.

7:30 pacific time.  Almost to second pick up location.   Have passed several trucks for border patrol on the way.  We are going almost to US/Mexico border.

8:30 pm   Arrived at shipper.  Load not ready.  Not due until 3/3.  Which means 27 hours from now.    Not sure how we are going to get it to Texas on the 4th if we aren’t picking up until the 3rd.

Pictures from today from Sunny southern California.   Very beautiful area.    Regarding the windmills below – there was an article in the paper while we were in Hesperia that said they were raising everyone’s electric bill by at least $21 a month in order to pay for green energy and getting rid of dirty coal.    I wonder what the single mother who barely pays for her electric bill as it is thinks about the rate hike!   Those suckers are over $2 million dollars apiece just to manufacture, not to mention operating and software update costs.   There were thousands of these in just this one area.

Windmills all over the place in this spot. We went a mile probably and there was row after row after row. Totally ruined the view and I'm sure the tax payers pocket.

DG:  Waiting, waiting, waiting. Did I tell ya we were waiting. Again and again. And they pay people good money to arrange these trips and schedule things in a timely manner.

So we were sitting 100 feet from one of the best restaurants we have found on our journey, begging for a trip somewhere so that there would be a little cash in the bank this Thursday and along comes a two stop pickup going to Dallas, TX. Woohoo!  I checked with my dispatcher to clarify some times on the load information as it appeared we would be arriving at our destination a day before the info said it was due. Little did I know we would get to our second pickup two days ahead of schedule. Wonder what that shipping clerk thinks of us now. Either we are very, very efficient or very poor planners. I’m going with the latter.

There are a lot of trucks here and this is a very busy little place as warehouses go. And here we sit. Waiting for someone to figure something out.  At this point I would just as soon go to bed and deal with it in the morning.

Sleep may be a bit difficult tonight due to the numerous low flying helicopters passing overhead at regular intervals. Along with other aircraf from border patrol.

Well, asked dispatch if my situation was going to be resolved tonight or should I go on to bed. Goodnight.

And God bless.
