7:30. Time to get up and get down the road.
Woke up to a bunch of windmill parts in the parking lot. Another horizon view about to be messed up.
11:30. Stopped at the big Indian again in Oklahoma. Greg stops there every time for the huge chicken legs. Precious loves them too. I had half a barbecue pork sandwich. It’s good but not worth the headaches.
3 pm. Getting there. Should be in around 7. Called dispatch and so far no trips available for the weekend. I hope we don’t sit another weekend!
6:45 pm. Sunset over a lake in Gainesville, Texas.
I forgot to put these in last night. Truck stop last night had one of these. I didn’t know they still had phone booths and boy has it gotten expensive. Guess a dime doesn’t go very far these days.
8:30 pm. Arrived at the terminal in Dallas, Texas. They changed our load and it isn’t due to be delivered until Monday. Hopefully we can leave it here in the yard and get another load for the weekend. At least we were able to take a free shower and get laundry done.
DG: It always amazes me the distances that we cover in a day. Woke up in Missouri, stopped in Oklahoma and final stop just outside of Dallas, TX. That’s covering a lot of ground. Thousands of truck drivers do that every day. Amazing.
I wanted to work on the railroad. I applied when I came out of the Air Force, but they had just passed a new regulation prohibiting the hiring of anyone who is colorblind. Well, that included yours truly. Main differences in trains and trucks, you don’t have to steer a train. You don’t get cut off by smaller trains. You never have to back into a parking space or loading dock. You don’t have to look for a train stop to park for the night. Or look for a place to fuel. There is virtually no other traffic. I’m sure there are more.
Anyway, it’s been a good day and we are blessed. So you be too. God bless.
