Day 133 June 9, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – Arizona, New Mexico, Texas

Shamrock, TX home of the fighting Irish.

Beautiful drive across New Mexico and part of the panhandle of Texas. A little bit of rain in Texas but this part could use a little.

On to Oklahoma in the morning. Going to be a short day as my 70 hour clock has run out so I am driving off of time picked up from eight days ago. Sounds confusing don’t it?  Well it is. It’s a government thing and we all know what they do to common sense and logic.

So, no pictures today but you can review some from the past weeks there are plenty there.

Love to all and God Bless.

Annie -Not much going on here.  Mom had Coumadin check this morning and we were going to go to Lowes but she didn’t feel well so we came home and took a nap.  I am going to have to give up my naps on the truck so taking advantage now.  LOL.

Turning in.   Goodnight y’all

Day 132, June 8, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – California, Arizona

Busy day here today.  We took moms puppies to the groomers but because they didn’t have an updated rabies shot we had to bring them back home.   So, one puppies were home we went to lunch at Panera Bread and went to Joanne Fabrics and bought some red mason jars and Lowes for hooks to hang them and we re-arranged moms peg board and put most of the utensils from her very over crowded drawer in the jars on the wall.   I must say it looks nice.

DG:  An expert job.  Looks lovely. So sorry I wasn’t there to help.

I am on a mission to bring fresh strawberries to Illinois.  Fresh California strawberries.  I’ve been looking for a truck full of chocolate or whipped cream. We could have a feast.

Anyway, here’s the sunset from the rest stop next to Meteor Crator. Evidently Arizona has made a bit thing out of that as they have their own radio station broadcasting all of the amenities available there. Sounds like fun.

The desert has its own type of beauty. Don’t think I would want to live there but glad I got to see it. And will probably see it many more times in the near future and beyond.

Yes I am finally out of California. Nice place if the population was about one tenth of what it is. I can see the attraction though. Just too many others saw it moved there.

Tomorrow it is on through New Mexico, Northern Texas and further, closer to my darling whom I miss so terribly much. I love you sweetie.

Well, like the Arizona sunset I’m going down.  Good night and God bless.

Day 131, June 7, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – Utah, California

Well, Greg is sitting at a dock in California and I am sitting on a couch in Kentucky.  Something not right about this.  Hopefully he will be headed back this way today.

DG: On my way sweetie pie. If I can get out of California.  Stopped at a little place that has Diesel for big rigs but no specified parking area. But there’s room for me so I shut her down. Don’t think too many trucks come here anyway. Just outside of Bakersfield. Tomorrow I should be able to get across Arizona and in to New Mexico.

But first, sleep. Hope everyone is doing well. We love you and thank you for following along with us. I feel like we have company on our trip.

Good night and God bless.

Day 130, June 6, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – Utah, Nevada

Busy day today.   Went to Kroger and got stuff to make for dinner.   Chicken is sinking in buttermilk mixture, bread is rising and the pound cake is done.   It is yummy!

DG:  Beautiful sunrise over Fernley, NV. Fuel and rest stop then on to Stockton, CA later.

After Stockton I will be picking up a load in Castroville, CA then to Morris, IL and hopefully Ashland after that to pick up my sweetie.

Annie – Sorry sweetie but there won’t be any chicken left for you I’m afraid.

Day 129, June 5, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – Nevada, Utah

Busy day around here.   Got moms garage cleaned out quite a bit and took a big truck full to The Salvation Army.   Garage looks good but I am bushed.

DG:  getting ready to head out. Break is over and my clock has time to drive. Probably get to CA by morning.  Unload Sunday morning and go pick up next load heading for IL.  That one should get me to my sweetie who I miss oh so much and can’t wait to give her a big hug and kiss her all over her face.

In the meantime enjoy some pictures of Utah.

Good night and God Bless.

Oh, and say hello to my feathered friends.

Annie – Don’t feed the birds!    I see a group of birds and still get the feeling like they are going to attack thanks to that awful movie years ago.

We went to J&J’s for dinner.  Had a good plate of spaghetti and brought home some butterscotch pie for dessert later.   Yummy!

Jim is here so I am going to cook tomorrow.  I get so tired of eating out but mom still not eating much and it doesn’t make sense to cook.    I get to get my knives and whisks out tomorrow!!

Well, going to watch TV a bit and turn in.   Goodnight y’all!

Day 128, June 4, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – California – Nevada

Never stay up until 3 am with one niece when you have to take the other one to soccer practice at 8 am.  So sleepy!

DG:  Sounds like sound advice.  I will remember that.

West Wendover, NV is where I be at the moment.  Was really counting on putting about 500 miles behind me last night, but government regulations put the quietus to that plan.  Where have we come to that the government tells you when to rest, sleep, eat and work.  I don’t know. Now I have to wait until midnight to get some time back, then probably swap with another driver that has more time on their clock so that the load can be delivered on time.

Oh well, getting some important stuff done like a shower, laundry and banking matters.  I don’t know how truckers did this job before cell phones and the Internet. Guess you took care of stuff when you were home.

Annie – Went to the movies with mom and the girls.  Saw San Andreas where California almost falls in the ocean.   Pretty good movie.

They left about 3:30 and I hit the bed for a nap.   Definitely not enough sleep last night.

Jim came in for a few days.   Hopefully get a shed put up for mom while he’s here.

Turning in.   Goodnight everybody.

Day 127, June 3, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – California

Not much going on here today.   Mom had doctors appointment for follow up.   All is well.   Got her last pneumonia shot ever they said.  Guess you don’t need them after a certain age.

Went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch.   Had a good steak.   Mom of course brought most of hers home so she will have it for dinner.

Greg has his time table turned around.  He had to sit so much yesterday that he drove at night now he has to work to get his schedule back around.

Abby and Lindsey got to come over and spend the night.  Yay!   Watched tv for a bit.   Now time to go to bed because Lindsey has soccer at 8:30.  Uughhhh

Goodnight!

DG:  Yes, schedule is turned around and I had every intention of driving all night but after taking my last break noticed my 70 hour clock is nearly expired and that may cause me to sit here for a while. Wanted to leave you with some pictures and say, good night and God bless.

Day 126, June 2, 2015 Annie – Ashland, Greg – California

I got a phone call from Greg this morning saying get on a plane.   I’m not leaving California.  Then he started telling me how beautiful it was as he was going through wine country.   Nobody likes a smarta$$ Greg Hill!  So here I sit waiting while he’s off seeing amazing things.  Boo hoo.

DG:  Sorry my dear.  I was torn between wanting to share with you and not wanting you to be jealous.  Sharing won out. It is truly like no place I have ever seen.  What Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are to corn, California is to every other vegetable and fruit. Truly amazing.
I’m at the Dole plant in Marina. CA. Just north of Monterey.  I was driving on CA-1, the road that follows the coast but the section I was on is too far from the coast to see the ocean. Maybe some other time.

Well, here are some pictures I took over the past few days. Enjoy.

Did I mention it is really cold here?  Oh yea. In the low 50s with a strong breeze. Didn’t think to bring a jacket. Did think I would be needing one.

Oh well, stay warm. We love you. Good night and God bless.
