Uugggghhhhhh. 5:15 and I am wide awake. Looks like my internal clock is adjusting to these early hours. Greg and Precious apparently do not have the same problem judging by the snoring going on. It’s really not a bad thing though being up by myself. There isn’t any alone time in the cab of a truck. Catching up on some TV shows I’ve missed, drinking my Diet Coke and watching all the other trucks heading out. As soon as the sun starts coming up the parking lot starts getting empty. Everybody is anxious to get going. Not making any money if the wheels aren’t turning. Ok. Back to Hart of Dixie.
We had a bit of time this morning so we went to Walmart. Stocked up on quick lunch stuff and dog food for Precious. We could pick up our next load any time from now until noon tomorrow but since next stop is in New Jersey we decided to go ahead and hit the road to give us plenty of time.
Passed a lot of pretty farm land again on our way to Otumwa, Iowa, to Cargill Meats. The land started rolling a bit with a few hills and some curves finally. We saw several signs on people’s barns and in their yards about stopping an airport the government is wanting to put in. Signs that say – say no to airport. This is our home. And stop airport. Apparently they are wanting to put it right in the middle of the farms there. Really sad. Check out the Facebook page about it.

We pulled in to Cargill and our load was ready pick up was quick and easy. We have 41,000 pounds of meat. All the manifest says is boneless and trim so not sure if it’s beef, pork or turkey. Either way, we are loaded and on our way. Snow storm due to hit New Jersey Sunday night but we probably won’t be there until late Monday so should be fine.
Found another Pilot parking lot to spend the night in. This one actually had a buffet so I got roasted chicken and Greg had meatloaf. A welcome change after fast food.
We are turning in for the night. 6 am wake up call. Goodnight all!
